Symptoms of TB

Tuberculosis (TB) primarily affects the lungs, but it can also involve other parts of the body. Early recognition of symptoms is essential for timely diagnosis and treatment. A person with TB may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

Persistent cough

A persistent cough lasting more than two weeks may be an early sign of tuberculosis and requires prompt medical evaluation at the nearest health facility.

Fever

Low-grade fever occurring especially in the evening is a common symptom of tuberculosis and should not be ignored.

Night sweats

Frequent night sweats without a clear cause may be a symptom of tuberculosis and require medical assessment.

weight loss

Unexplained and gradual weight loss without changes in diet or activity may be a warning sign of tuberculosis and should be medically evaluated

Loss of appetite

A persistent loss of appetite without a clear reason may be associated with tuberculosis and should be assessed by a healthcare provider

Chest pain

Persistent chest pain, especially when coughing or breathing deeply, may be a symptom of tuberculosis and requires medical evaluation.
